IN.SIGHT
What each of our four presenters will share with us over the course of this lecture series are insights on a practice marked by a keen awareness of the imposed limits and proscribed boundaries of conventional design practice today. The point of their virtual confluence in this series is their individual attempts to push beyond the boundaries and outer limits of conventional practice. Each will share with us work that questions the conventions of taste, of the traditional divides that separate various design disciplines, and the entrenched traditions of seeing and communicating. Each will offer an insight or rather a different site or vantage point from which we may see design in a different light and/or from an altered perspective.
Collectively they will put in sight other possibilities, potentials, and alternatives that design as a discipline offers its practitioners and students.
If the site of this virtual or temporal confluence is the design department, it is because exploration, innovation, the extension of the envelop and testing the limits of convention, and conventional assumptions represent values or insights that the college has and the design department will continue to embrace and foster.
